My family and I stopped by because my sister recommended it and everything was great. It's all yummy and authentic food as well. Todo nos Encanto 🤗 They also gave us some a little sample of their spiced coffee which was really nice, we all enjoyed it.
I’ve been here about 5 times and I’m blown away every time! The food and service is unbelievable! The coffee is the best I’ve ever had—honestly! I love the pistachiolatte. The corn pancakes are out of this world delicious. The portions are great and prices are fair! Highly recommend!
Can’t believe I only just discovered this gem of a cafe. Kooben is modern Mexican breakfast/brunch spot that has everything - authentic coffee, fresh juice, fancy cocktails, and tasty food (with generous portions). It’s hard to find restaurants that serve brunch daily and I’m so happy they do. Will definitely be a regular here!
Truly one of the best restaurants we have been to in a long time. Staff were so sweet and generous. Food was insanely good. During our week long trip this is where we chose to eat every other day! Absolutely perfect every single time. The chai tea is delicious. Avocado toast is so divine and adding their habanero sauce on top is top tier.
This place never disappoints. Armando is super friendly and attentive, he makes you feel like you've known him for years! My husband and I have gone a couple of times and whenever we get him, we are so pleased. He's our favorite server! The food is always fresh and delicious, and atmosphere is super chill. Service is usually quick. They have tons of food options and their coffee is so yummy. I love that they give you cafe de olla upon being seated and have authentic, exceptional dishes. The cafe is small but tables are spread out enough to where you're not crammed. They also opened up their outdoor seating area and it looks so good! I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a unique brunch experience.
My only complaint would be they’re not open for dinner because it was SO nice! A bit crowded between tables. You are given a small cup of hot Mexican coffee upon being seated. Let’s say it was sugar with a bit of coffee lol but delightfully spiced. I ended up pouring mine over ice and I enjoyed that. This is not your Americanized boiler plate Mexican restaurant. It was full of ladies having brunch. I got the pork Montaditos which was like an open faced barbecue sandwich with a tostone bun. Excellent comfort food. Hubby got chicken enchiladas chock full of chicken. He cleaned his plate. I only wish I’d had room for dessert because they sounded amazing.
Had one of the best brunch at Kooben Cafe Mexicano I ordered the huevos motuleños and a lavender lemonade, both were so good and the lemonade was incredibly refreshing. We were welcomed with a sample of café de olla and it was honestly the best I’ve ever had, so of course we had to order one for the table. We also tried the steak chilaquiles con salsa verde, both full of flavor and perfectly done. And we couldn’t leave without trying the conchas. I usually skip them because they tend to be dry, but this chocolate one completely changed my mind. It was soft, rich, and literally melted in your mouth. Everything felt thoughtful and made with love. Definitely coming back when in North Charleston 🤎
Yes yes yes. This place is amazing. From the second you walk in the vibrant decoration to the pack full tables, you immediately know you’re in for a treat. All the servers and hostesses were super nice, explained things well, and were happy to be there. We started with some coffee drinks at the bar before our table. Dark Horchata was amazing, Cafe de ills was so refreshing. Our friends got micheladas that were large and super good. The pancakes may have been the best we’ve ever had. From the corn and crispness to the thick moist fluffy inside, and the condensed milk instead of syrup. This is MUST get. We will be back to get this again! 3 Huevos al Gusto was a big portion. Chorizo was buzzing with flavors, bacon thick and crispy. We got the added steak and it was thin but tender, and well seasoned. We can’t wait to come back!!
From the moment we stepped inside, this place felt like home. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavor in every bite. And the hot chocolate? So rich, comforting, and perfectly made. You can really taste the care they put into everything. Highly recommend!
We stumbled upon this place after attending a local church. We didn’t realize how big it was since it was attached to a Mexican bakery in supermarket. The first time we sat outside in their newly renovated outdoor patio, which was so nice and beautiful. Our server greeted us with some sweetened espresso and cinnamon, which was a nice treat. The empanadas here are insane and you must get this. This was probably the best empanada I’ve had at a restaurant. The second time we returned, we dined inside. The service was a bit slower this time and it took longer for us to get our food. We ordered some of their specialty coffees, which came in these cute mugs and glasses. This time we tried their Arepas de plantano that came with cheese and a mole sauce. This was also very good, especially with the sauce. We ordered the giant huevos rancheros platter to share and it truly did take up almost the entire table lol. They put all the toppings in separate dishes so you could build your own essentially. This was a lot of food and we had plenty leftover. This could’ve fed 4-5 people! The only disappointing thing about this was that we didn’t get any steak as shown on the menu and just chicken. When we mentioned it the server who was very nice but didn’t speak much English said she told us but I was completely unaware. Everything still tasted good but we did wish there was some steak along with the chicken. The French toast dish was decadent and sweet, but the bread itself was moist and crispy on the edges. There was a small discrepancy at the end with our bill because the price of the platter didn’t match what was on the receipt. They were unable to adjust it but gave us a gift card for the balance. Overall we still had a good time and would definitely come back. It was much more of a unique brunch experience that I’ve had in Charleston so far.
